Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) commonly known as the "king of plastic". With excellent chemical stability, corrosion resistance, sealing, lubrication but no high viscosity, electrical insulation and good anti-aging endurance ,it can work under +250 to -180 temperature for a long time, PTFE products has played important role in the chemical industry, machinery, electronics, electrical appliances, military, aerospace, environmental protection and bridges and other areas of the national economy. PTFE advantages: high temperature resistance -- working temperature up to 250 . Low temperature resistance -- with good mechanical toughness; even if the temperature dropped to -196 , it also can maintain 5% elongation. Corrosion resistance showed inert to most chemicals and solvents ,it can resist acid alkali, water and organic solvent. Weather resistant best aging life in plastics. High lubrication has the lowest friction coefficient in solid materials. No adhesion with minimal surface tension in solid materials, no adhesion to any material. No poison -- has physiological inertia, it caused no adverse reaction when implanted in body as artificial blood vessels and organs for a long time.
PTFE packing It is a interlock braided packing manufactured from pure ptfe yarns pretreated with ptfe dispersion, plus a break-in lubricant to reduce the coefficient of friction. This is a dimensionally stable packing, yet relatively soft and pliable, which has excellent lubricating and running characteristics. It handles all acids, alkalis, and most chemicals, with the exception of molten alkali metals. MATERIALS TYPES Virgin Teflon gaskets. Virgin Teflon gaskets are produced directly from pure material. They are used in the majority of general applications due to the most cost-effective type of PTFE material and possessing the greatest physical and electrical insulation properties. Filled Teflon gaskets. Filled Teflon gaskets are made from virgin PTFE material with an added substance to improve their sealing properties. The gaskets materials exhibit strong physical characteristics, the strength can be altered depending on the type of filler that is used to enhance the material. Expanded Teflon gaskets. Expanded Teflon gaskets are produced through virgin PTFE being expanded in a manner that creats uniform tension strength across the material. This process results in a PTFE material that carries no structural weakness and more flexible. A PTFE envelope gasket is a gasket that is split or machined from the outside diameter wall to 1/16 of an inch from the inside diameter. Envelope gaskets can be supplied slit/v-type or milled/square cut with or with out a filler. A ring gasket has a thickness, inside and outside dimension. A full face gasket has a thickness, inside and outside dimension along with bolt holes. A flange gasket is primarily the same as a full face without the bolt holes.
