Thanks for your question. Allow me to answer it for you.
Custom clearance is the responsibility of an exporter just as much as an importer and both parties need to ensure they're able to produce the below listed documents for the smooth shipping and delivery of products.
However, the declarant is the person “responsible” for the import. He/She must ensure the goods are legitimate, correctly valued and declared upon import - this includes customs debt, accuracy of the information given in the declaration, the authenticity of the documents presented and the compliance with all obligations.
As an importer, you need the following documents in order to make the clearance procedure smooth for you -
- Bill of Entry
- Commercial Invoice
- Bill of Lading
- Import License
- Insurance Certificate
- Purchase order/Letter of Credit
- Industrial License (if any)
- Technical Write up of specific goods
- RCMC: Registration cum Membership Certificate
- Central Excise Documents (if any)
- Purchase Order from Buyer
- Sales Invoice of supplier
- Bill of Entry
- Bill of Lading /Air way bill
- Packing List
- Certificate of Origin
- Other specific documentation required by the buyer, or financial institution or the importing country regulation
